Beta version, not yet lawyer-reviewed · Effective [effective date]

Terms & privacy

This is the interim text for WorthGo's public beta. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer; we will replace it with a reviewed version before general launch and tell you when we do.

Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and [WorthGo legal entity] (“WorthGo”, “we”, “us”) about using the WorthGo web app. By creating an account or using WorthGo you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

WorthGo is in beta. Features change, things may break, and we may reset or remove data that belongs to test activity. We'll try to warn you before anything that affects your orders.

What WorthGo is (and isn't)

WorthGo connects two kinds of members:

  • Buyers, who post a request for an item sold in another country (currently between the United States and Europe), and
  • Travelers, who are already making that trip and offer to buy the item and bring it in their luggage for a reward.

The buyer and the traveler agree on the item price and the reward on WorthGo, and we keep a record of what was agreed, the chat, and the steps of the order (purchased, in transit, delivered, confirmed).

WorthGo is only the meeting place. We are not the seller of any item, not the carrier, not the importer or exporter, not a payment service, and not a party to the agreement between a buyer and a traveler. That agreement is between the two of you.

Members use WorthGo as private individuals. When you deal with another member, the consumer rights that EU law gives you when you buy from a business do not apply, because the other member is not a business. If you use WorthGo as a business (for example, as a professional personal shopper), tell us before you do. During the beta we don't support business accounts.

Requests are listed newest first. Nobody pays to be ranked higher.

Who can use WorthGo

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must give a working email address; we sign you in with one-time codes sent there.
  • One person, one account. Don't use someone else's account or let someone use yours.
  • You may not use WorthGo if you are subject to sanctions (for example, listed by the US Treasury's OFAC or under EU restrictive measures), or to move goods to or from a sanctioned person or destination.

Payments between members

WorthGo does not handle payments.We don't collect, hold, transfer, refund or recover money, and we charge no fee during the beta.

  • The price of the item and the traveler's reward are negotiated and recorded on WorthGo, in the currency the buyer chose (USD or EUR).
  • The payment itself happens directly between the buyer and the traveler, off the platform, by whatever means you both choose. Agree the method and the timing in the WorthGo chat, so there is a record.
  • Because nobody holds the money in the middle, the traveler usually pays for the item first and is repaid by the buyer. That is why, during the beta, an item can cost at most US$100 or €100.
  • WorthGo cannot refund, reverse or chase a payment, and is not responsible if a member doesn't pay. If something goes wrong, report it (see Content, reports and moderation). We act on the account, not on the money.
  • Never send money to anyone who asks you to leave WorthGo before an order exists, or who claims to be from WorthGo. We will never ask you for payment.

Customs, duties and import responsibility

Bringing goods across a border is regulated, and the person crossing the border is the one who answers to customs.

  • Travelers: you are responsible for declaring every item you carry and for following the customs, tax and import rules of every country on your route. Goods you carry for someone else, in exchange for a reward are generally not treated as your personal belongings or gifts, so the traveler duty-free allowances (for example, €430 for air travelers entering the EU, or US$800 for US residents returning home) usually do not cover them. Plan to declare them. Official guidance: EU: entering the EU with goods · US CBP: Know Before You Go.
  • Duties and taxesdue at the border are part of the deal between the buyer and the traveler. Agree in the chat, before the purchase, who pays them. If you don't agree otherwise, we suggest the buyer pays them, as the owner of the item.
  • Undeclared goods can be seized, and the person carrying them can be fined. WorthGo does not pay duties, fines or penalties, and does not replace goods that customs keeps.
  • WorthGo is not for goods meant for resale. Order items for your own use or as a genuine gift.
  • WorthGo is not the importer of any item and does not give customs or tax advice. If you are unsure, ask the customs authority of the country you are entering.

Prohibited items

Buyers confirm the item is allowed when they post a request, and travelers confirm it again when they make an offer. You must not request, buy or carry:

  • Weapons and ammunition: firearms, knives, ammunition, explosives.
  • Drugs and controlled substances: narcotics, and prescription medicines without authorization.
  • Cash and monetary instruments: cash, bearer instruments.
  • Perishable food: fresh food, anything that needs refrigeration.
  • Loose lithium batteries: spare cells and power banks. Airlines limit them strictly (carry-on only, capacity limits, and a limit on how many power banks each passenger may carry); if the item is a battery-powered device, check your airline's rules before you accept.
  • Counterfeit or pirated goods: fake branded items, pirated media, anything infringing someone's intellectual property.
  • Live animals and animal products: pets, ivory, protected species.
  • Plants, seeds and soil.
  • Tobacco and alcohol beyond personal limits.
  • Identity and official documents: passports, government IDs.
  • Hazardous materials: aerosols, flammables, corrosives, compressed gas.
  • Anything illegal, recalled, or restricted in the country of departure, transit or arrival, or that your airline would not accept.

Travelers: buy and pack the item yourself.Never carry a sealed package that someone else prepared, and never carry something you haven't seen.

We may remove any request or offer that breaks these rules, and we may suspend the accounts involved.

Your responsibilities

When you use WorthGo you agree to:

  • tell the truth about yourself, the item, its price and your trip;
  • keep deals, chats and payments arrangements honest, and keep the order status up to date (the traveler marks the item delivered; the buyer confirms receipt, and if the buyer doesn't, the order confirms automatically 7 days after it was marked delivered);
  • upload only photos you have the right to share (receipts, proof of delivery, your own profile picture), and hide details on receipts that aren't needed;
  • not harass, threaten, scam or discriminate against anyone, and not post illegal content;
  • not scrape, spam, or try to break or overload the service;
  • write reviews that are honest and based on a real, completed order.

Cancelling. While an order is active, either side can cancel without consequences. Once the item is purchased, the buyer can still cancel; a traveler who cancels at that stage receives a trust & safety strike on their account. Once the item is in transit or delivered, an order can no longer be cancelled. Use a report or a dispute instead.

Content, reports and moderation

What you post stays yours.You give WorthGo permission to store and show it (requests, offers, profile, reviews, photos, messages to the people you're talking to) only as needed to run the service. That permission ends when the content is deleted, except where we need to keep a copy as described in the Privacy Policy.

Reporting. Anyone can tell us about content or behavior they think is illegal or breaks these terms:

  • inside the app, with Report on a user, request, trip or message; or
  • if you don't have an account, by email to [contact email].

Please tell us what the problem is, where it is (a link or the name of the member), and confirm the report is made in good faith. We'll confirm we received it, and tell you what we decided.

How we decide. Reports and disputes are reviewed by people on the WorthGo team, not by automated systems. We aim to be consistent, proportionate and fair to both sides. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, hide a listing, issue a strike, or suspendan account (a suspended member can still read, but can't post, offer, message or change anything). Serious or repeated breaches, fraud, or illegal content can lead to permanent removal. If we believe someone's life or safety is at risk, we may contact the police.

When we act on your account or content, we'll email you a statement explaining what we did, why (the facts and the rule it broke), and how to challenge it. We won't do this where the law prevents us, or for obvious spam.

Disagree? Reply to that email within 6 months and a different person on the team, where possible, will look at it again. You can also go to court or to any dispute-resolution body available to you where you live.

Blocking.You can block another member at any time; they won't be able to message you or make offers to you.

Order problems and disputes

If something goes wrong with an order (the item didn't arrive, arrived damaged, is the wrong item, the price doesn't match, or someone didn't show up), talk in the chat first. Most problems are misunderstandings.

If that doesn't work, either side can open a disputeon the order and add evidence (photos, the receipt, the chat). While a dispute is open, the buyer's confirmation is on hold. The person who opened it can withdraw it at any time.

A member of the WorthGo team reviews the evidence and decides whether the complaint is upheld (the order is cancelled and the traveler receives a strike) or rejected (the order continues). We will explain the decision as described above.

Please understand what a dispute decision is and isn't: it is our decision about the order and the accounts on WorthGo. It is not a court ruling or arbitration, it doesn't move any money, and it doesn't stop either of you from using any legal remedy you have against the other.

Lost, damaged or confiscated items. WorthGo does not insure items and does not compensate losses between members. If an item is lost, damaged, or held by customs, who bears the cost is between the buyer and the traveler. Agree on it in the chat before the purchase.

Liability

WorthGo is provided “as is” during the beta. We work to keep it running and secure, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

Because WorthGo only puts members in touch, to the extent the law allows we are not responsible for: what members say, buy, carry, deliver or pay; the quality, legality, or safety of any item; customs decisions, duties or fines; lost, damaged or confiscated items; or payments that are not made.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or willful misconduct), and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

Closing your account

You can deactivate your account at any time from your profile settings, except while you have an order in progress. Finish or cancel it first, so the other member isn't left without a way to reach you.

When you deactivate:

  • your account is closed and your profile disappears from WorthGo;
  • your personal details (name, email, photo, bio and similar) are anonymized; we keep an anonymous record of past orders so the other member's history still makes sense;
  • your notification subscriptions are removed.

We may also suspend or close an account that breaks these terms (see Content, reports and moderation).

Giving your email is required to have an account; everything else on your profile is optional. We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

Who can see it

  • Other members see your public profile (never your email), your requests and reviews. The member on the other side of an order also sees your chat messages and the photos you share there. Request details (item, route, reward, photo) are visible to visitors without an account; your identity is not.
  • Service providers that process data for us, under contract:
    • PostHog: product analytics (hosted in the EU);
    • Resend: sending our emails (stores data in the US);
    • Cloudflare: storing uploaded photos (R2);
    • [hosting provider, country]: hosting the app and its database.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.

We do not sell or share your personal informationfor advertising, and we don't show ads.

International transfers. Some providers are in the United States. Transfers from the EU/UK rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework(the providers above take part in it) and, as a fallback, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it [retention: proposed defaults, to be confirmed]

  • Account and profile: while your account is open; anonymized when you deactivate it.
  • Chat messages and photos: [until 12 months after the order closes], unless there is an open report or dispute.
  • Reports, disputes and moderation records: [24 months].
  • Server logs: [90 days].
  • Backups: overwritten within 30 days.

We may keep something longer only when the law requires it or to deal with a legal claim.

Cookies, analytics and notifications

  • Always on (needed for the app to work):a secure sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, the app's service worker, which only delivers notifications you turned on and caches nothing, and a small record of your analytics choice, so we don't ask again on every page. These don't track you.
  • Analytics (PostHog) before you choose, and if you decline: we count page views and a few actions (such as posting a request) without storing anything on your device: no analytics cookie, no local storage, and no identifier that lasts beyond the day. These counts are never linked to your WorthGo account.
  • Analytics (PostHog) if you accept:PostHog stores an anonymous ID on your device so it can tell repeat visits apart, and when you are signed in that ID is linked to your WorthGo account number, never your name or email. We don't record your screen or what you type, and we don't collect clicks automatically.
  • Changing your mind: use Cookie settings in the site footer or at the bottom of your profile page. It removes the stored ID and asks you again.
  • Push notifications, only if you turn them on: your browser asks for permission. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in your browser settings.

Your privacy rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to restrict how we use it, or object to uses based on legitimate interest. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting what happened before.

Most of this you can do yourself in the app (edit your profile, deactivate your account, turn off notifications). For anything else, email [contact email]. We'll answer within one month (we may extend that by two more months for complex requests, and we'll tell you if we do). We may ask you to confirm it's really you.

If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information.

We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

If a security incident puts your data at risk, we'll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Changes to this page

This is a beta text and it will change, at the latest when the lawyer-reviewed version replaces it. We'll announce significant changes by email or in the app before they take effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
